A few weeks ago I had the pleasure of talking with Joel Salatin after his inspirational speech in at the annual Fort Collins Sustainable Living Fair.

I asked him several questions about home food production in America.

He shed some light on the reasons why people don’t grow their own food and how we can inspire each other into taking that first step towards taking food production into our own hands.

Joel gives several examples of how literally anyone can grow their own food in order to supply organic food for EVERYONE with no need for ANY farmland.

Prepare to be inspired… then hit play to watch the video below!

No more excuses y’all, it’s time to take food independence back into our own hands and grow our OWN local organic food!

Here it is again:

So what did you think?

What barriers do you see that keep people from growing their own food?

If you’ve already taken the plunge, what inspired you to start producing your own food?

Ready to start growing?

If you’re committed to doing the upfront work, I’ll show you how to get double yields in half the time right here.

  1. My grandparents raise all the families food on a half acre in the city of Seattle. My grandfather made all the beer and wine, he fished durning the salmon run every year. The Grandkids picked grapes, cherries, strawberries, pears, blackberries and apples on the weekends for my grandmother to can. My grandparents past away in my twenties. I sure you get the picture, we were taught how to do it and now I teach my grandchildren how to do it.

  2. Hi, I’m a U.S.Army Veteran going into Greenhouse farming; this information is very helpful, I look forward to learning more about your programs because I am also connecting with the USDA program for U.S. Veterans in farming….

    1. Hey Dexter, Great to hear from you. And yes, that is actually an awesome program. Glad to see the “USDuh” as Joel Salatin calls them, helping out vets.

  3. Wow, this is very encouraging. I appreciate it. One of the problems I am having is that I am in a condominium with limited sunshine and space. I could move the patio furniture out and put plants against the walls but that would give them even less sunshine. Thoughts?

  4. I want to join Flame Keepers Society. I saw the video in my email but it didn’t show me the button to click on.

  5. I totally agree, the battle of growing your food is between the ears. If you don’t try you will never know.

  6. Can you share this idea also for us to learned more about food production for our own use.

    Thanks,
    Mindan

  7. #1 Most people or afraid to step out of there comfort zone. example how many people read the directions before putting it together or just pay to have it assembled. People or afraid of failure. The green Monster is like learning the ABC in kindergartner. The 2% acheivers did not even get it the first time. You follow directions that is easy as ABC’s, you can have your own supply of “organic vegetables”
The new slogan “Go Green Monster’s” feed the world.

  8. Please send me your info on growing this way. I’ve grown gardens all my life, and would like to learn a better way to grow.

  9. Thank you for lending your perspective on this timely and important topic. Gaining our independence is the key to survival from a status quo that does not serve the collective interest.

  10. I wish to join the ” Grow Everywhere” movement. I would like to be the flame. Please let me know how to pay and how to learn the technique. I am from India and grow vegetables with traditional method. It is just a hobby but now I would like to take it seriously.
